Neon Drift Circuit

★★★★☆ 4.3 Editor rating

Neon Drift Circuit doesn't pretend to be a sim, and it's better for it. The whole game is built around chaining drifts through neon-soaked tracks, with a boost meter that fills as you slide. Nail a long corner and the payoff is immediate and loud.

Controls default to tilt, but the tap-to-steer option is far better once you get used to it. Tracks are short and replayable, which suits a phone perfectly — one race is a two-minute hit. There's a light upgrade system for your cars, and I appreciated that a fully-stock ride can still beat a tuned one with good driving.

The soundtrack is a genuine highlight and does a lot of heavy lifting. It gets repetitive after an hour, but the racing holds up longer than the music does.
